When a "rainbow" baby comes into the world, they bring much joy, but they do not fill the void from the baby we've lost.

“Rainbow baby” is the term commonly used to describe a baby born after losing a baby/pregnancy. A rainbow baby does NOT replace a lost baby/babies. This is an important point to make as some may think that having a baby after a loss can fill that gap or alleviate the grief.  I can confirm that even though a rainbow baby can bring immense happiness, that existing hole that was dug so deep will always remain empty. Think of a puzzle that forms a heart; a baby born after loss is one big beautiful piece to add to that puzzle, but there will still always be a piece missing. Rainbow babies bring joy and hope to our lives, but our grief for our babies lost will always be.
